Thanks for Nothing

September 3rd, 2007 at 02:51 am

I never posted about this, but back at the beginning of August, I received notice of my raise this year: 3%. Can you see why I didn't mention it? Anyway, I found out yesterday that starting in January, we can expect a 5% increase in the cost of our health insurance. Great. So much for that raise. With that 5% on top of the increased cost of parking, I'll probably make less this year than last, even with that raise.

I sometimes feel like I'll never get ahead.

3% isn't bad. Lots of people don't get any raises or they get raises that amount to 50 cents an hour. At least you can keep up with inflation if nothing else. That's worth something, I'd think.

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I was feeling frustrated last night. And yes, we have had years with no raises so I guess I should be happy. And honestly, I probably would be thrilled if they weren't increasing other costs an even higher percentage. Still, 3% is better than being unemployed.

And if you're lucky it doesn't come with an increase in health insurance premiums!
